The beasts we buy now, sometimes at enormous prices, will run games as we’ve never seen before, at speeds we would have never imagined. But still, both gamers and developers think that there could still be room for some significant improvement. On that note, it appears that Microsoft will perform some tweaks to Xbox consoles, ensuring that the boot time will be a lot shorter. If you are planning to add Discord to your Xbox device, follow this simple guide and make your life a lot easier.

Microsoft planning to reduce Xbox console boot time

Since we’re talking about Xbox, a few days ago, Redmond developers rolled out an Xbox system update for Alpha Insiders, introducing an updated controller firmware and some bug fixes. Work is never done at Redmond, and it now appears that the tech giant is working on significantly cutting down Xbox Series X|S console’s boot times. It turns out that, in the latest Xbox Insider test builds of the Xbox dashboard, engineers managed to reduce the cold boot startup time by around 5 seconds. Remember we’re only talking about Xbox Series X / S consoles right now and Xbox One, not about Xbox 360, just so there’s absolutely no confusion. If you are wondering how this was achieved, Microsoft was actually able to speed up the boot sequence for consoles by creating a shorter bootup animation. Xbox Insiders were the first ones to notice the faster bootup time, and Microsoft was quick to confirm the above-mentioned changes last Friday. — Josh Munsee (@joshmunsee) July 23, 2022 The director of Xbox integrated marketing, Josh Munsee, stated that the company created a shorter boot-up animation in order to make this possible. And, as you can see from the above Twitter post, the animation will now last only 4 seconds, compared to the original boot-up animation, which was 9 seconds long. Note that these awesome and time-saving changes are not limited to Xbox Series X/S, because apparently, Xbox One generation consoles are booting noticeably faster with these changes. That being said, you should also keep in mind that Xbox users will only benefit from these changes if they have their consoles set to Energy Saver mode, not Standby mode. Great work from the team @nyczkowski @joshmunsee @harrisonhoffman https://t.co/MFHqnC4Kgy — Jake Rosenberg (@jakerose27) July 23, 2022 These tweaks will make it quicker to boot up in Energy Saver mode, reducing the Xbox Series X / S boot process from 20 seconds down to around 15 seconds. Needless to say, this will make the Energy Saver mode even more appealing to gamers who never even considered using it before. Not to mention that Microsoft made it the default option for new Xbox consoles earlier this year alongside adding support for downloading updates in the background. So, there you have it. Playing our favorite video games on Xbox consoles has become even more fun and entertaining, and maybe a bit less time-consuming with these recent changes. As a gamer, what other changes do you think would be extremely beneficial to the overall Xbox gameplay experience?
